Cape Community Collective
Cape Community Collective is a neighbourhood programming group for Observatory, Woodstock, Salt River, and the harbour edge. We put on free and pay-what-you-can gatherings so it is easier to meet the people who already live around you — not a festival brand, not a venue, and not a membership club. Sunday park yoga is the quiet start of the week on the grass, mats optional, dogs at the edge. Harbour Social Sunday is the loud one: DJs, food stalls, and a courtyard that fills until the lights come on. Neighbourhood Repair Café keeps toasters, lamps, and stubborn zips in circulation instead of the dump. Community Film Night borrows a hall and a projector. Local Book Swap is a table of paperbacks and no sales pitch. Weekend Fundraiser is the annual street collection for the pantry partners we already cook with. Hip Hop Trivia Night is for people who actually know the local scene, not a pub-quiz reprint from another city. We borrow parks, halls, courtyards, and harbour edges, then leave them better than we found them. Volunteers run the door, the urn, the PA, and lost-and-found. If you have a folding table, a projector, or an afternoon, you can be on the crew. Kids are welcome at most daytime events; evenings are mixed. Dogs at the park, not in the hall. Bring a mug, a book you are done with, or a toaster that still might live. How to use this page: the featured gathering is the one we want neighbours at this month. Upcoming lists everything public. Past is the trail. The website has volunteer shifts, rain plans, and a map of borrowed spaces. WhatsApp is last-minute venue changes. Instagram and TikTok are the recaps. Facebook is the event listings your aunt still uses. YouTube is the longer talks from film night. X is wherever the argument went. Hosts can list a gathering with us when it is open to the neighbourhood and priced for the people who live here. Come once without signing up for anything, then stay if it fits.
